Women’s Heated Winter Coat Buying Guide: Original Parka, Puffer Parka or Down Jacket
As winter keeps going, those temperatures keep dropping. We know that work and life don’t stop just because the temperatures are low, so we want to do what we can to keep you nice and toasty warm throughout the season
Here at ORORO we have a lot of options so there can really be something for everyone. With so many options, it can sometimes be difficult to know which one is the best fit for your needs. So, we’re helping you out.
This one is for the ladies, we’re breaking down the differences between our popular Original Parka — the Women’s Heated Thermolite® Parka, Women’s Heated Puffer Parka, and Women’s Heated Down Jacket so you can pick the best one for you.
Before we get into the differences between the jackets, here’s what they have in common:
- Carbon fiber heating elements generate heat across your core body areas (The Women’s Heated Thermolite® Parka and Women’s Heated Down Jacket have four, the Women’s Heated Puffer Parka has three)
- Three adjustable heat settings (low, medium and high)
- Up to 10 working hours (3 hours on high, 6 hours on medium, 10 hours on low)
- Quick heating UL/CE-certified battery with Mini 5k battery upgrade option
- USB port for charging smartphones and other mobile devices
Now, let’s get into the differences. Here’s a breakdown of common factors to keep in mind when selecting a jacket and the best options for you.
Heating Zones
As mentioned above, all of our heated apparel features carbon fiber heating elements, but some have more zones than others. If you’re feeling like “more the merrier,” then you’ll want to opt for the Women’s Heated Thermolite® Parka and Women’s Heated Down Jacket.
Both feature four heating zones to generate heat at the core areas of the body: left and right chest, upper back, and our favorite part - collar heating!
Lightweight vs Bulk
If you’re looking for something on the lighter side to wear while you’re running errands, on the sidelines of sporting events, or volunteering then the Women’s Heated Puffer Parka is the way to go. It’s 37% lighter than the Women’s Heated Thermolite® Parka but it also features the same loose-fill THERMOLITE® insulation that brings incredible warmth while maintaining a great warmth-to-weight ratio.
Long vs Short Length
Length is another thing to consider when choosing a jacket. If you’d like something to partially cover your legs for extra warmth, the Women’s Heated Puffer Parka and Women’s Heated Thermolite® Parka are the best options since they both extend to the mid-thigh.
If you’d like something shorter for agility, the Women’s Heated Down Jacket is hip length.
Fit
One of the goals of our heated apparel is to provide something you not only feel good in, but something you think you look good in.
If you’re looking for a regular fit the Women’s Heated Puffer Parka is the one for you. For a more flattering and flexible fit, the Women’s Heated Down Jacket features an elastic waistband with both sides of the waist crafted with stretchable fabric, offering extra room for movement
The Women’s Heated Thermolite® Parka has a versatile hidden waist drawstring to customize the fit to match your preferred wearing style. Cinch or loosen to adjust and customize.
Detachable Hood & Water-Resistant
All three jackets include detachable hoods which are perfect incase of snow or rain. The Women’s Heated Thermolite® Parka has a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish to help keep you dry. This combined with Thermolite® insulation makes this parka essential and durable in any cold weather environment.
The Women’s Heated Down Jacket is also a good option since it is also wind and water-Resistant. It also features storm cuffs to provide extra wind protection while the water-resistant shell helps keep you dry during light rain which is great for occasional cold weather rain showers.
The Women’s Heated Puffer Parka also has a water-resistant shell which makes it handy during light rain showers.
Materials
Both the Women’s Heated Thermolite® Parka and Women’s Heated Puffer Parka feature Thermolite®, a lightweight loose-fill insulation material that provides sufficient warmth while maintaining a great warmth-to-weight ratio
The Women’s Heated Down Jacket is made with 800-Fill RDS Down. This insulated material takes warmth to the next level to keep you warm with comfy down. We are also committed to RDS (Responsible Down Standard) down feathers, which means the down does not come from animals that have been subjected to any unnecessary harm or cruelty.
Extra Features
Some of our jackets have additional fashionable features like the Women’s Heated Thermolite® Parka’s detachable faux-fur lining on the hood to make a fashion statement.
The Women’s Heated Puffer Parka features a quilted design for a timeless look and thumb hole storm cuffs that prevent cold air from getting inside while also giving a bit of edge
The Women’s Heated Down Jacket also has thumb holes and a soft fleece-lined collar for extra warmth.
Additional Colors
While both the Women’s Heated Down Jacket and Women’s Heated Puffer Parka are available in black and white, the Women’s Heated Thermolite® Parka has more color options. Choose from olive green, red, or black
No matter which jacket you choose, you’re guaranteed to stay toasty warm while looking and feeling your best. When in doubt, you can always snag them all to give you a variety of heated apparel options this winter season
